Great Parks Plants 100,000th Tree
Night on the Serengeti Celebrates Supporters
Taking Root, a community-wide effort, involving public and private
entities as well as individuals and organizations, is on a mission to
plant 2 million trees by 2020 to confront the tree crisis in the region.

Great Parks of Hamilton County, 21 parks and preserves that span
nearly 17,000 acres of greenspace across Hamilton County, Ohio, has
stepped up to help reach the goal and recently celebrated planting
its’ 100,000th tree!

“So honored to emcee and help plant the 100,000th tree for
@GreatParks of Hamilton County!” tweeted Meghan Mitchell, WLWT
TV 5 weekend anchor and reporter.  “AMAZING EFFORT to bring
LIFE to our community!”

A lead partner in the Taking Root tree planting initiative, Great
Parks of Hamilton County pledged to plant 60,000 trees in
Great Parks over three years as part of the overall goal of two
million for the region.

On a mission to preserve and protect natural resources and to
provide outdoor recreation and education in order to enhance
the quality of life for present and future generations, Great
Parks has exceeded its’ Taking Roots goal!

High-fives Great Parks!

Night on the Serengeti highlights all the amazing work supporters
have done in service to Village Life, a Cincinnati based nonprofit on a
mission to unite communities to promote Life, Health and Education
in Tanzania, East Africa.  One of the most exciting parts of Night on
the Serengeti each year is the Rafiki Award Ceremony, and this year
was no exception. This year five individuals who have been vital to
the work of Village Life were celebrated.

The student Rafiki award went to four University of Cincinnati nurse
practitioner students affectionately known as the "A-Team"- Allysia
Billow, Allison Youngs, Allyson Ruebusch, and Angela Ellard. These
four students provided exception care to patients at Roche Health
Center during the June Outreach Brigade.

The professional Rafiki award went to Dr. Stewart Wright. Dr. Wright
who helped spearhead an important partnership with the Emergency
Medicine Department at the University of Cincinnati and the Shirati
Hospital.

The evening also featured the impressive work of the Engineer's
Without Borders- UC Chapter in the keynote presentation. Two
students, Julie Paprocki and Grace Aldredge, chronicled the
Nyambogo Water Project from its planning phases, through drilling
the well, to the final stage of extending water lines and taps into the
community.

High-fives and congrats to the honorees!
