CABVI Wins Ken Marrs Award
|
The Personalized Talking Print (PTP) program at Cincinnati
Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (CABVI) recently
received the Ken Marrs award from the American Council of the Blind
of Ohio, Greater Cincinnati Chapter (ACBOGCC).
The Ken Marrs Award is presented to a group, company, or
organization that has made outstanding progress in its programs and
services enhancing the quality and equality of life for individuals who
are blind or visually impaired in the Greater Cincinnati area.
Personalized Talking Print (PTP) is a flexible service that allows
listeners who are blind or visually impaired to access current, local
printed information by telephone. PTP provides a variety of news
stories, magazine articles, store ads, TV listings, obituaries, and
more. PTP allows listeners to call and make specific personal
requests for reading of printed materials, such as classified listings
for apartments, articles in local community newspapers, or a daily
devotional. No special equipment is needed to operate PTP and new
listeners are provided with a brief instructional session over the
telephone.
“Thank you to all of our wonderful PTP volunteer readers in Greater
Cincinnati for making this program such a great success.” said John
Mitchell, CEO at CABVI. “We greatly appreciate American Council of
the Blind of Ohio, Greater Cincinnati Chapter for honoring the PTP
information service.”
For more information about CABVI, visit www.cincyblind.org or call
