Thanks to The Living Classroom Education Access Fund, The
Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden is now able to offer FREE field
trips to the Zoo for qualifying schools. This aid will not only go
towards helping schools go on Zoo daytime field trips but it can
also be used towards a Nocturnal Adventures Overnight program
at the Zoo, as well.
The Living Classroom Education Access Fund is made possible
with the lead support of The Helen G., Henry F. and Louise
Tuechter Dornette Foundation, with other founding partners -
Time Warner Cable’s “Connect a Million Minds” program, the
Ambassador Council of the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden,
and grants from Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North
America.
To apply, teachers must submit documentation of financial need
as either a school with 50% or more students receiving free or
reduced lunches or as a Title I School.

10th Anniversary of RetroFittings

Cincinnati Zoo Offering FREE School Field Trips

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul-Cincinnati (SVdP) in partnership with the University of Cincinnati's College of
Design, Architecture, Art and Planning (DAAP) presented the 10th Anniversary of RetroFittings, October 12, at the
Hilton Netherland Plaza Hall of Mirrors. The event was presented by Merrill Lynch Wealth Management.
RetroFittings, an innovative fashion show featuring the creations of more than 50 fashion design students from
DAAP, utilizes clothing, accessories and other materials from St. Vincent de Paul's seven thrift stores. The designs
were modeled by UC students in a New York style fashion show. Proceeds from the event benefitted St. Vincent de
Paul's efforts to provide hope and help to neighbors in need throughout Cincinnati.
Special guest Althea Harper, a DAAP and RetroFittings alumnus, a successful New York designer and a finalist on
season six of the hit show Project Runway presented a design award at the event. The emcees and live auctioneers for
the evening were Local 12’s Jen Dalton and Bob Herzog.
High-fives SVdP and DAAP!
