Cincinnati State presented six incoming Honors Experience students scholarships.  The students recognized have
enrolled at Cincinnati State for the 2012 Fall Semester and will receive scholarships covering the cost of tuition,
fees and books as they earn their associate degrees.

“We want the Tri-State to know that we’re serious about recruiting the best and the brightest,” said Cincinnati
State President O’dell M. Owens. “We represent a buffet of opportunities at Cincinnati State, and we’re really
proud of our honors program.’’

The Honors Scholarship recipients for this year’s entering class:
• Catherine Bennett, New Richmond High School, who plans to pursue an associate of science degree with a focus
on pre-medical studies;
• Alexander Dick, Hughes Center High School.  He plans to enter the Computer Network Engineering Technology;
• Savanna Fields, New Richmond High School.  She plans to enter the clinical lab program;
• Ashley Garner, Gallatin County (Ky.) High School.  She plans to enter the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program;
• Kristin Rice, Campbell County (Ky.) High School.  She plans to enter the culinary program;
• Leigh Weber, East Central (Ind.) High School.  She plans to enter the surgical technology program.

The Honors Experience scholarships are among the more than 50 named scholarships offered annually at
Cincinnati State. They are part of the college’s effort to convince the families of academically gifted students to
review the variety of educational offerings at Cincinnati State in fields that include nursing and health care,
engineering technologies, graphic arts, audio-video production, business technologies, water quality and other
environmental technologies, and “transfer degrees’’ that tie in with bachelor’s programs at four-year institutions.

Cincinnati State Honors Experience Scholars
The Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden has been selected as the Day 2 winner
of this year's Toyota 100 Cars for Good program. 100 Cars for Good is a major
philanthropic initiative in which the automaker is giving 100 cars to 100
nonprofits over the course of 100 days, with winners selected each day on
Facebook.

Toyota’s philanthropy efforts have contributed more than half a billion
dollars to U.S. nonprofits since 1991.

The Zoo’s new Prius V will help it expand the reach of its wildlife education
programs to schools, scout groups, hospitals and senior organizations
throughout the state. The Cincinnati Zoo was selected as one of 500 finalists
from thousands of applications nationwide.
Cincinnati Zoo a Toyota 100 Cars for Good Winner
“At Toyota, we appreciate what a difference that new vehicles can have for organizations that are doing so much to
make local communities stronger,” said Michael Rouse, vice president of diversity, philanthropy and community
affairs for Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A. “With thousands of team members located in the Cincinnati area, we appreciate
the Zoo’s great work, and we are gratified that this car will help bring the Zoo’s important educational programs to
even more people.”
