C. Houston,  Chantae Recasner, Ph.D., Brian W. Taylor,  Brittainy Walton, and Tamiko

These extraordinary young professionals, preeminent in a diverse range of career
categories, combine a commitment to excellence in character with community service and
professional achievement. Their multi-faceted contributions have positioned them as
positive role models within their community and beyond.

This year’s Recognition Ceremony was held at North Avondale Montessori School.  “We hold
the ceremony at area schools to provide a mentoring opportunity for our recipients“, says
Sallie Elliott, founder of the program. This year after the ceremony, the Leaders for the
Future Award recipients went into individual classrooms to talk to students about their
careers and the preparation required to become  successful in that career field.

As part of the actual recognition student achievers at North Avondale Montessori School
were recognized. Zach Kershner, Mycah Faison, Ruston Barbour, and Maggie Murphy were
honored as Student Leaders for the Future.   “The positive recognition students receive
helps build their self esteem, confidence, and pride”, says Roger Lewis, principal.
