Mercy Neighborhood Ministries (MNM) recently celebrated five years of “Empowering People for Life” and the
people who make it possible - the neighborhood and those who have supported their mission since MNM opened
its' doors! Because of generous supporters, MNM is able to continue and further its' mission. The anniversary
and donor recognition event at the DeSales Crossings Center included a reception, facility tours and a brief
program.
MNM's inaugural Touch of Mercy Award was presented in special recognition of long-standing support of the
ministry. Recipients of the award were moved by the wonderful group that came out to celebrate MNM's 5th Year
Anniversary with them. Those honored were Susie & Tom Siemers and Robert Conway of the Ruth J. & Robert
Conway Foundation. Because of gene MNM is able to continue their mission because of generous supporters!
“MNM is very grateful to its many friends whose generosity made the past five years such a success,” said Suzanne
Kathman, Executive Director.
Mercy Neighborhood Ministries is sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy and provides education and work readiness
programs, home health care, and senior and supportive services. Its programs positively impact more than 2,000
individuals each year. MNM recently increased its capacity with the addition of the Home Care Aide Training
program to prepare individuals for employment in this rapidly growing field.
Congrats and High-fives to all honored and MNM for the impacts and success on lives touched!

The Cincinnati Ballet Soloist Rodrigo Almarales won the silver medal at the
Helsinki International Ballet Competition, Helsinki, Finland on June 7,
2012. The competition attracted 69 dancers from 28 countries. Judging was
based on the highest jumps, most pristine pirouettes, depth and passion of
performance. There was no prize awarded for first place in the Senior Men’s
category; Almarales and a competitor from China both placed second.
“[With the piece I created] I wanted a feel of unusualness that I think I
accomplished,” said Almarales, who performed a piece from Don Quixote.
“In the music there is a man laughing throughout, which would naturally
make the listener want to laugh, but the mood of the background sound I
created, the lighting and overall the choreography contradicts the laughter,
accomplishing the mind confusion I wanted.”
The next chance for audiences to see Almarales, a native of Havana, Cuba
who joined Cincinnati Ballet in the 2011-2012 Season, perform in the
United States will be in The Kaplan New Works Series, September 6-16,
2012. Subscriptions to Cincinnati Ballet’s 2012-2013 Season are available
through the Box Office at 513.621.5282. Individual show tickets go on sale
July 22 at cballet.org and 513.621.5282.
