Lisa May Evans has been named to the new position of Director of
Organizational Development & Legal Compliance at Cincinnati State. In this
role, she will lead the college’s Human Resources team in the development of
labor and employee relations initiatives that support the achievement of
Cincinnati State’s strategic goals and objectives.
Ms. Evans comes to Cincinnati State with more than 16 years experience as a
human resources executive and corporate labor and employment law attorney.
Her human resources experience includes serving as Vice President, Human
Resources with d. e. Foxx & Associates, and Director, Supply Chain Human
Resources with Sara Lee Corporation. Ms. Evans’ corporate law experience
includes serving as senior employment counsel during her tenure with Sara Lee
Corporation, and practicing with two of Cincinnati’s largest law firms,
Dinsmore and Shohl and Thompson Hine.
Carla Chance is the newly appointed Executive Vice President at Cincinnati
State Technical and Community College, providing leadership for human
resources, student services, technology, facilities and security.
Ms. Chance previously served as Vice Chancellor for Finance and Business
Services at St. Louis Community College from October 1999 to November 2011.
There she was responsible for budget management, physical facilities, auxiliary
services, financial resources management, and procurement. STLCC is a
comprehensive urban community college serving almost 30,000 credit students
and more than 90,000 continuing education and workforce enrollees annually.
The STLCC system is comprised of four campuses, two extension centers and a
downtown training center.


Members of the Cincinnati State Women's Basketball Team recently visited their adopted class at Taft
Elementary in Mount Auburn to deliver Christmas presents to fifth and sixth grade students. For several
months, members of the team have been raising money for the Christmas project at Taft. Students, faculty
and staff at Cincinnati State also contributed to help buy presents for the students.
"Our players and coaches were inspired by the smiles on the kids' faces," said Head Coach Ron Harris
(pictured above in the back row, far right.) "I think our players have a little bit more motivation to win for
their new fans.”
The Lady Surge are undefeated at 13-0 and currently ranked No. 3 in the country in the National Junior
College Athletic Association Div. II poll.

Cincinnati State Women's Basketball Team Plays Santa at Taft

The 2011 Fox Sports Ohio Redsfest had a record turnout of 23,737 in
attendance at baseball’s premier fan festival. The first-class experience
raised more than $100,000 for the Reds Community Fund which
featured a multitude of activities at Redsfest including Reds Summer
Wiffle® Classic, a celebrity homerun hitting contest, Split the Pot, and
the fifth-annual Reds Community Fund Celebrity Poker tournament.
Event proceeds allow the Reds Community Fund to operate its baseball
and softball outreach initiatives. Programs include the Reds Rookie
Success League, a free, coed, character-building program for 6-12 year
olds in Cincinnati, Butler County, Warren County, Louisville and
Dayton; Youth Baseball and Softball Funding, which underwrites
expenses for over 325 inner-city teams throughout Reds Country; and
Field Renovation, which has helped restore more than 300 baseball
fields; and including the Coldwell Banker West Shell Match and Greater
Cincinnati RBI programs, more than 35,000 kids and coaches have
benefited in 2011.
