Cincinnati Reds to Host the 2016 and 2017
RBI World Series
Western & Southern Open Donates $385,000
to Local Charities
Six months after hosting an extremely successful MLB All-Star Game, it was
announced The Cincinnati Reds will host the 2016 and 2017 Reviving
Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI) World Series, the international championship
tournament of the RBI program.  The RBI program, Major League Baseball’s
youth initiative designed to provide young people from underserved and
diverse communities with opportunities to play baseball and softball, also
encourages academic achievement and success, and teaches the value of
teamwork and other important life lessons.

“We are very pleased that the Cincinnati Reds will host the RBI World Series
the next two years,” said Tony Petitti, Chief Operating Officer, Major League
Baseball.  “When it comes to growing and promoting our game at the youth
level, the Reds have been exemplary, particularly with respect to the RBI
program, its outstanding Urban Youth Academy and as hosts of last year’s
All-Star Game festivities.  The RBI World Series is designed to provide an
enriching experience for participants, both on and off the field, and we are
confident that the Reds will continue to exceed all expectations as a host
club.”

Cincinnati’s more than century-old professional tennis tournament, the
Western & Southern Open, presented annual gifts to local beneficiaries
bringing the grand total of giving over more than four decades to just below
$10 million, at $9,985,149.

In an event held at Cincinnati Children’s new “T” Building, the tournament
presented a donation to the hospital for the 42nd consecutive year. This
year’s gift of $200,000 brought the grand total of donated funds from the
tournament to the hospital to $8.3 million. The total places the
tournament in the exclusive ‘1883 Society’ which is composed of
individuals and organizations that have surpassed the $5 million giving
mark, a club with only 16 other members including donors such as The Bill
and Melinda Gates Foundation, William Cooper Procter and the Toyota
Corporation.

The Salvation Army Launches Stitched With Love
The Salvation Army in Greater Cincinnati inaugurated a new outreach
program, “Stitched With Love”, to provide a practical solution for those
dealing with the cold winter weather – FREE scarves.  Many individuals in
our community need to stay warm, as well as to know that someone cares
about them. “Stitched With Love” aims at addressing a basic need while
showing love and care for neighbors in need.

In late January 2016, hundreds of hand-knit scarves, crafted both by staff
and volunteers, were tied to the fence surrounding The Salvation Army’s
Over-the-Rhine facility, free to those who wanted to come up and take one.
In addition to the free scarves, a Salvation Army canteen was on-hand with
free coffee, hot chocolate and cookies for those in attendance.

RBI tournament games, with teams from RBI leagues from the United States, Canada, the Caribbean and South America,
offer competition in three divisions: Junior Baseball (13-15 year olds); Senior Baseball (16-18 year olds); and Softball (19
and under).  Regional winners of the RBI World Series, which will be held August 3-16, will be played on fields throughout
Greater Cincinnati, with both Great American Ball Park and the P&G Cincinnati MLB Urban Youth Academy serving as
central locations for the event.  The Baseball Championship games will be played at the P&G Cincinnati MLB Urban Youth
Academy.  This is the first time the Reds have hosted the RBI World Series.

“It is a proud day for the Cincinnati Reds and our community and we relish the opportunity to host the RBI World Series
at the P&G Cincinnati MLB Urban Youth Academy,” said Bob Castellini, Reds President & CEO. “It is Major League
Baseball’s vision and commitment to urban baseball and softball that helped build this complex and we are thrilled to see
it used to host this international event in Cincinnati in 2016 and 2017.”

Since 1987 the donated funds have been appropriated to the Cancer Survivor Clinic within Children’s Hospital. The event also
organizes annual visits to the hospital from ATP World Tour and WTA players to interact with patients.h

"These donations are a testament to the hard work of our staff, board members and most importantly, the volunteers who
contribute countless hours each year to the event, which in turn allows us to give back to the community," remarked Western &
Southern Open CEO Elaine Bruening. "The beneficiaries all do great work to better our city and we're proud to support them."

During the same luncheon, the tournament also announced gifts to two other beneficiaries – the Barrett Cancer Center at the
University of Cincinnati Cancer Institute and Tennis for City Youth.

The former received a donation of $150,000 bringing the lifetime giving total to the Cancer Center to $903,551. The tournament
has donated to the Barrett Cancer Center since 2004. Western & Southern Financial Group Chairman, President and CEO John
Barrett and UC Cancer Institute Director Dr. William Barrett were on hand to acknowledge and accept the donation.

Tennis for City Youth, a local NJTL chapter that provides lessons and equipment to kids who could not otherwise afford to learn
the game, received a gift of $35,000 bringing the total since 1991 to $808,633. Proceeds from the tournament represent the sole
funding source for this organization.
