Antonio “L. A.” Reid, born June 7, 1956 in Cincinnati, Ohio, is a
three-time Grammy Award-winning record executive, songwriter,
record producer, co-founder of LaFace Records, and an X Factor (U.S.)
reality-series judge.   Raised in the Mt. Auburn and Madisonville
neighborhoods, Reid attended Hughes High School.  He played the
drums in high school.

He gained the nickname "L.A." as a young musician when a guitar
player in his band called him "L.A." because he was wearing a T-shirt
that said “L.A.” in reference to the Los Angeles Dodgers.  In the early
1980s he joined and performed with the Cincinnati based R&B band
The Deele (1981-1988).

Reid co-founded LaFace with longtime friend and partner Kenneth
(Babyface) Edmonds in 1989 and they built the label into a $100
million music powerhouse.

He produced a number of songs on Whitney Houston's 24 million-
selling The Bodyguard (1992) soundtrack.

Demonstrating an exceptional ability to spot and develop new talent,
he is responsible for signing and helping bring Avril Lavigne, Death
Grips, Mariah Carey, Pink, Justin Bieber, Rihanna, Kanye West, Toni
Braxton, Kerli, Nicki Minaj, TLC, Usher, Ciara, OutKast, and Dido to
multi-platinum album sales.

Among his current work, he is Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of
Epic Records and a judge on X Factor (U.S.).
