The Cincinnati Reds, Kroger and the Ohio Department of Public Safety have teamed up to give a safe ride
to local children by donating 50 new infant-to-toddler car seats to St. Vincent de Paul-Cincinnati to be
given to families in need. The first car seats were given to a families on March 30th at an event at St.
Vincent de Paul’s West End Outreach Center.
“Many of the families served by our volunteers sacrifice basic needs to make ends meet in the face of
economic hardships,” said Liz Carter, executive director St. Vincent de Paul-Cincinnati. “The safety of
their children is one thing that they cannot sacrifice and we are grateful to the Reds and Kroger for
ensuring the safety of the youngest of our neighbors in need.”
St. Vincent de Paul will distribute the car seats to families in need who are either expecting the birth of a
child or who are in need of a seat for a newborn. Recipients will be selected from families served by St.
Vincent de Paul and partner organizations.
“The needs of the families served by St. Vincent de Paul extend to all areas of their lives,” Betzler said,
“we are very proud the Cincinnati Reds and Ohio Department of Public Safety partnered with us on this
donation as, through Kroger’s suppliers, we were able to procure some of the highest quality and safest
car seats available.” Betzler continued, “These parents now not only have a basic necessity for their baby,
but also invaluable peace of mind. It’s an honor to help give that to them.”
High-fives to all who teamed up for this public safety effort to help families who need it the most!

Village Life, a Cincinnati based nonprofit whose mission is to “unite communities to promote Life,
Health and Education” in three remote and impoverished villages in the Rorya district of Tanzania,
East Africa, continues to grow - both in Tanzania and in Cincinnati. Because of diligent and steadfast
efforts, Village Life prepares to celebrate the upcoming 1-year anniversary of the beginning of clinic
operations at the Roche Health Center.
The Roche Health Center was completed and began providing services in April 2011. Thanks to Village
Life’s efforts and support from dedicated teams, partners, supporters, volunteers, donors, and the
villagers in the Tanzanian district being served, thousands of villagers in the Rorya district of
Tanzania now have access to healthcare without having to walk four to six hours. The University of
Cincinnati's School of Architecture and Interior Design has also been recognized nationally for the
ingenuity of the design and planning of the Roche Health Center.
High fives to Village Life and all who made the Roche Health Center a reality for so many!
