Envision Children is sponsoring its 10th Annual “Lighting the Way” Scholarship Gala
on Sunday, April 12, 4-7 p.m. at Art Design Consultants, 310 Culvert St., 5th Floor.
Proceeds from the benefit will help fund the educational nonprofit’s innovative,
interactive programs, such as extended-day school-based tutoring, ACT boot camps,
Power Saturdays and Summer Enrichment.

“We’re proud to say that this is our tenth annual `Lighting the Way’ Scholarship
Fundraiser & Gala,” said Sheryl McClung Garner. “It is our main fundraiser, and it’s a
night of fun – with scrumptious food stations, live music, a live auction, silent
auction and an award ceremony. This year, for the first time, a former student will
receive the Lighting the Way award – Jessica Gassett.”

Everyone in the Greater Cincinnati community is invited to attend the night of fun,
food and fellowship for a good cause. For those who can’t attend, there are many
other ways to support the work of Envision Children – such as making a
contribution, purchasing an Envision Children bowtie at the EnvisionChildren.org
website, referring children to Envision Children, volunteering as a tutor or helping
to raise funds.

Envision Children is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit, founded in 1999 by Garner, an education
innovator who began her career in education at the storied Marva Collins
Preparatory School in Chicago, IL. Envision Children provides educational
enrichment programs in Greater Cincinnati for all children, providing scholarships
to disadvantaged and underserved students.

What sets Envision Children apart is its focus on making a long-term impact on the
lives of the students it serves. Envision doesn’t just help correct students’
educational deficiencies, prepare them for success in standardized tests and excel
academically, but they also help students  make their education their top priority
and to lay a foundation for them to go on to excel in life.

Garner explained that Envision Children is blessed with a growing corps of dedicated
volunteers, including Bengals linebacker Vincent Rey, who was nominated by the
Bengals for the second consecutive year for the NFL’s Walter Peyton Man of the Year
Award for outstanding community service.

“I support Envision Children because they give each child a chance to become the
best version of themselves,” said Vincent Rey, Envision Children board member and
volunteer tutor. “I got involved because of the interactive way they bring education
to life for the kids they serve.”

Tickets are $100, including dinner, open bar, live music, a live and silent auction and
more.
